FitLens privacy policy
In short: FitLens keeps your measurements, sizes and history on your phone and in your phone's own backup. The app has no account and no ads, and it doesn't track you. Nothing you keep in FitLens is sent to us or anyone else unless you choose to share it, for example your size card through your phone's share sheet. If you choose to have FitLens read a product, only that product's link or screenshots, and a random install number, are sent, to our reading service and on to Anthropic's Claude to read the size chart; we keep the product details that were read, never the screenshots. We never sell or share your data.
Who we are
FitLens – Size Check ("FitLens", "the app") is made and operated by FitLens ("we", "us"). You can contact us at fitlens2@gmail.com.
What the app stores, and where
FitLens stores what you give it so it can suggest sizes:
- your height and, if you add it, your weight;
- the sex you choose when the scan asks for it, which the scan uses to pick the body statistics that fit you;
- your body measurements, from the scan or typed in;
- the clothing sizes and brands you tell it about, and your fit preferences;
- the products you've checked, the sizes it suggested, and how you said things fitted;
- your settings, such as centimetres or inches.
All of this is kept on your phone, in the app's own storage, and in your phone's own backup (see below). It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we can't see it, unless you choose to share it, for example by sending your size card through your phone's share sheet. The one exception is a product you choose to have read: its link or screenshots are sent for reading, as described under "Reading a product (optional)" below.
Your phone's backup
If backup is turned on for your phone, Android (your Google account) or iPhone (iCloud, or a backup on your computer) may include FitLens's data in the phone's backup, so it can come back when you set up a new phone or install FitLens again, or restore your phone from a backup. On an iPhone only a restore from a backup brings it back: installing FitLens again starts empty. Those backups belong to your Google or Apple account and follow their terms; we can't access them. You can turn backup off in your phone's settings.
Photos and camera
The camera is used to measure you on this phone; its pictures are never saved or sent; only the measurements are kept. The body scan works on your phone without a connection. If you would rather not use the camera, you can choose photos from your gallery for the scan instead, or type in measurements you took with a tape. FitLens reads those photos on your phone in the same way.
If you choose screenshots of a product, FitLens shrinks them on your phone and, only if you have given your permission, sends them to be read (see "Reading a product (optional)" below). FitLens doesn't save them. Your phone asks for camera access only when you start a body scan or choose to take a picture, and for photo access only when you choose to pick one.
Reading a product (optional)
You can ask FitLens to read a product's size chart and details from a link, from screenshots (up to 3), or from a link shared into FitLens from your browser or a shop's app. The first time, the app explains what will be sent and asks for your permission. If you say Not now, nothing is sent. To read a product, FitLens sends its link or your screenshots to FitLens's reading service and to Anthropic's Claude. The service also gets a random install number, which only counts reads. The pictures and the page are not kept, only the product details that were read. Your measurements, sizes, preferences and history are never sent: they stay on this phone and in its backup.
- What is sent. The product link, or the screenshots (shrunk on your phone first: the longest side is at most 1568 pixels, as JPEG), and a random install number that the app makes for itself. The install number is not your name, phone number or device, and it is used only to count reads. Your measurements, sizes, history, name and phone model are never sent. It goes over an encrypted (https) connection to our reading service, which runs on Cloudflare.
- What the service does with it. For a link, the service itself fetches the public product page from the shop (the shop sees a request from our service, not from your phone) and passes the page's text (its size-chart tables, product data and visible text) on to Claude. For screenshots, it passes the pictures on. Claude reads them and the service sends the result back to the app.
- What Anthropic does. Anthropic processes what it receives for us, under its commercial terms for its API. Under those terms it does not use that content to train its models, and it keeps it only for a limited period set by its own data-retention policy.
- What our service keeps. (1) The product details that were read (name, brand, price, fabric, the shop's fit words and the size chart), together with the shop page's address, without anything after a ? (so no tracking codes, no # part and no sign-in details), if you sent a link, so that the same product is not read, and paid for, twice. It holds nothing about you and no install number, and we keep it for up to 30 days; after that it is read again if someone asks for the same product. We never keep screenshots or the page. (2) Counters, to stop one phone or one network from running up the bill: the number of reads each install number has made today (up to 10 a day), the number of reads each network made today (up to 30 a day), kept as a one-way fingerprint of the network address, mixed with a random value that changes every day, and not the address itself, and the total spent this month (a hard cap of $5 across all users, after which reading pauses until the next month). The counters hold no name, email address or link and nothing from inside FitLens: only a random install number or a network fingerprint, and a count. A clean-up that the service runs by itself every day, whether or not anyone is reading, and again at the start of every read, deletes every counter and every random value from before yesterday, so a counter is kept for a day or two. The month's total is a single sum that is not about any person.
- Cloudflare. As the host of the reading service, Cloudflare processes basic technical data, such as IP addresses, to deliver the service and protect it.
- Your choice. You can withdraw your permission at any time in Body → Settings → Privacy → Withdraw permission to read products. The app then asks again before the next read. Without permission FitLens reads no products; your scan, measurements, My sizes and History keep working.
Internet use
FitLens makes a network request only when you ask it to read a product, and it then sends what is described in "Reading a product (optional)" above and nothing else. The body scan works on your phone without a connection. When you tap a link, such as this policy or the support page, it opens in your phone's browser, and the app opens your email app if you choose to write to us. If you choose to share something, such as your size card, your phone's share sheet hands the text to the app you pick, and what that app does with it is up to that app.
What we don't do
- No sign-in or account.
- No advertising, advertising ID or tracking.
- No analytics or crash-reporting tools.
- No access to your location, contacts or microphone.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
Deleting your data
In the app: Body → Settings (the gear at the top) → Privacy → Delete my data → Delete everything. Until setup is finished, Privacy is at the top of the Welcome and setup screens, where it opens the same sheet.
Delete everything also makes FitLens forget its random install number and your permission to read products. It does not reach the reading service: the product details and counters described above live on the service, not on your phone. The product details hold nothing about you, and the counters clear themselves as described above. The product details clear themselves after 30 days.
Delete everything removes your measurements, sizes, preferences and history from the phone straight away. Uninstalling FitLens removes them from the phone too, but a copy may stay in your phone's own backup (your Google account backup on Android, or an iPhone backup) and come back if you install FitLens again or restore your phone from that backup. On an iPhone only a restore from a backup brings it back: installing FitLens again starts empty. To remove that copy, use Delete everything before you uninstall and let your phone make its next backup, or delete the backup in your phone's settings, in your Google or Apple account or, for an iPhone backup on your computer, on that computer.
If you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and we use them only to reply and to fix problems. Our mailbox is hosted by Google (Gmail). We delete support emails when they're no longer needed, and straight away if you ask.
This website
fitlens.pages.dev has no cookies, scripts, analytics or forms. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes basic technical data, such as IP addresses, to deliver the pages and protect the site.
Children
FitLens is meant for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and the app does not ask for or collect personal information from children: the only things it sends are the link or screenshots of a product that you choose to have read and a random install number, and neither says who you are. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in any other way: if a child under 13 emails us, we use the email only to reply and then delete it.
Where FitLens is available
FitLens is not offered in the European Union or the European Economic Area (the 27 EU countries plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein).
Your choices
Because FitLens never sends your measurements, sizes or history to us, we hold no copy of them to show you, correct or delete: you control them on your phone and in your phone's backup. The reading service holds only product details and counters, with no names or contact details (see "Reading a product (optional)"). Wherever you live, you can ask us about this policy or about any email you've sent us, and we'll answer.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects what leaves your phone, we'll say so in the app and in the store listings before it applies, and the app will ask you first.
